The new financial year is off to a flying start for homegrown auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra. Mahindra April 2026 sales report is out, and the numbers are nothing short of impressive. From rugged SUVs to record-smashing tractors, almost every segment saw solid growth — but one big question remains on every auto lover’s mind: which model actually sold the most?
While Mahindra hasn’t shared a detailed model-by-model breakup yet, the overall picture gives plenty of clues. Here’s everything you need to know about who bought what, how the numbers stack up, and what’s driving India’s SUV obsession.
Mahindra April 2026 Sales: Overall Sales Hit 94,627 Units — A Strong 14% Jump
Mahindra moved a total of 94,627 vehicles in April 2026, up 14% compared to the same month last year. This includes passenger SUVs, commercial vehicles, and three-wheelers. The company says it’s a “positive start” to FY2027, with demand staying hot despite global uncertainty and rising costs.

SUV Kingdom: 56,331 Units Sold, 8% Growth
The real action is, of course, in the utility vehicle segment. Mahindra’s domestic SUV sales touched 56,331 units — an 8% year-on-year increase. Think about it: that’s over 56,000 Indians choosing a Mahindra SUV in just one month. The usual suspects — Scorpio, Thar, Bolero, XUV7XO, 3XO, and the all-electric BE6 — are all likely fighting for the crown, though the company hasn’t crowned a single winner publicly.
- Scorpio and Bolero remain the backbone of rural and semi-urban markets.
- Thar continues to attract lifestyle buyers and off-road enthusiasts.
- XUV7XO and 3XO cater to modern families with feature-packed cabins.
- BE6, the electric newcomer, is slowly carving out space among EV-curious buyers.
“The year 2027 has begun on a positive note in April by achieving SUV sales of 56,331 units, a growth of 8%, and total vehicle sales of 94,627 units, a 14% growth over the same month last year,” said Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of the Automotive Division at M&M Ltd.
Commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 23,427 units, and the three-wheeler category also posted strong numbers — adding muscle to the overall tally.

Tractors Steal the Show: 46,404 Domestic Sales, 20% Growth
If SUVs did well, tractors did even better. Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business sold 46,404 tractors in the domestic market, a massive 20% jump from 38,516 units last April. What makes this extra special? This year’s April did not have Chaitra Navratri — a period that traditionally boosts tractor purchases. Last April had seven Navratri days, yet sales still grew by a fifth.
Veejay Nakra, President of the Farm Equipment Business, put it simply: “We have sold 46,404 tractors in the domestic market during April 2026 registering a growth of 20% over last year. This strong performance was delivered despite the absence of Chaitra Navratri in April this year.” Export tractor numbers also impressed, hitting 2,007 units — a solid 30% growth.
Total tractor sales, including exports, reached 48,411 vehicles.
Trucks & Buses Hold Steady With 11% Growth
The heavy commercial vehicle division, which includes Mahindra’s Trucks and Buses businesses, reported combined sales of 3,011 units for vehicles above 3.5 tonnes — an 11% year-on-year increase. Passenger-carrying commercial vehicles grew by 14%, while cargo vehicles saw a more modest 8% rise.
However, the company is keeping a cautious eye on the road ahead. Vinod Sahay, Executive Chairman of SML and President of multiple M&M divisions, warned, “The CV industry experienced moderation in April due to the fiscal year transition, inflationary pressures, and heightened geo-political uncertainties. We continue to closely monitor supply chain risks and elevated input costs, which could impact demand in the coming months.”
So, Which SUV Sold the Most?
That’s the million-rupee question, and Mahindra is keeping the model-wise numbers under wraps for now. But if history and market chatter are any guide, the Scorpio and Bolero duo likely lead the pack, with Thar not far behind. The XUV7XO and 3XO add significant volume in urban areas, while the electric BE6 is the wildcard — early adopters and EV fans are gradually pushing its numbers up.
For anyone planning to buy a new Mahindra SUV, these April figures show two things: the waiting periods might still be long for popular models, and the brand’s trust among Indian buyers remains rock-solid. Whether you’re eyeing a diesel workhorse like the Bolero or a futuristic electric ride like the BE6, the demand is clearly there.
